When you leave a bad relationship there are repercussions. You would think that someone that has been abused would never abuse another human being. You would be wrong! Without proper therapy to help you get through the hurt and anger, many strike out and usually at the children. These people are different from their abusers in one major point though. They do not intentionally set out to hurt someone. In my experience, women that are abused, especially for an extended period of time, are so used to cowering that when they leave the abuse they don't know how to deal with their anger. They show their anger in the same way their abusers did without even thinking. This is how Violence Becomes a Legacy. Therapy is so important! It should be the first thing after safety that you should be looking into as a Survivor.
